And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures,
and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky"

- Genesis 1:20

Cedar Waxwings were never common when I was growing up,
and it was not until 2008 that I caught one with my camera

These 2 shots were taken within one minute of each other, of two Cedar Waxwings that were perched and resting.  Both were shot with these settings

Bark River—Delafield, Wisconsin
I found a number Cedar Waxwings, including this juvenile, picking berries off a bush along side the Bark River, just below the dam, as it comes out of Nagawicka Lake

Devils Lake State Park—Baraboo, Wisconsin
On top of the East Bluff, overlooking Devils Lake, I spotted these dozen Cedar Waxwings. I was chaperoning a middle school science club at this location, and had a great time

My Brother-In-Law told me he had seen Cedar Waxwings in the cedar trees, so I went looking for them.  In a near by State Park, I found about a dozen or so feeding on cedar berries.  Here is one, click HERE to see a few more actually eating the berries

Fox River County Park—Waukesha, Wisconsin
These Cedar Waxwing shots were taken 1 second apart! My daughter and I were watching a Red-tail Hawk and a Goldfinch at this park, when I saw this bird feeding.  My daughter worked at an animal rehabilitation center last summer, and was familiar with these types of birds, though this is the first one I have ever seen

The shot on the right was selected by the National Wildlife Federation for a project they were doing to raise funds.  They found my shot on the web, and asked to use it.  I said yes!
