Wildlife and Nature Photography

Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Poet (1803-1882)
I've always enjoyed squirrels and we feed them year-round. Gray squirrels are numerous in my home town and
occasionally we see an Albino (we currently have one in our yard). We also see R
ed squirrels from time to time,
and
in some cities, we have Black squirrels too

Zion Narrows—Zion National Park, Utah
I hiked the trail to the start of the Zion Narrows but was unable to actually hike in the narrows as the water flow of the Virgin river was too great (and passage into the Narrows was prohibited by law).  However, I did find this squirrel hunting for nuts close to the Narrows

Kettle Moraine State Forest—Lapham Peak Unit, Wisconsin
Fresh snow fell a few days before, and today the sun came out so I went looking for some shots.  This Red Squirrel (and the next two shots) was playing in some cedar trees gathering nuts.  Here, he had just planted a large nut (or cone?) in some tunnels

Checking to see if I was watching.  He had carried this nut (cone?) out of a nearby tree and into a series of tunnels

He was taking these one at a time down from the tree and into his snow tunnels.  All I needed was to be patient and quiet and he went about his business
