Wildlife and Nature Photography

Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience
- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Poet (1803-1882)
I've always enjoyed squirrels and we feed them year-round.  By feeding squirrels, we also get chipmunks and other
critters that are just fun to watch

Albino Chipmunk—Waukesha, Wisconsin
This odd creature showed up late in the summer (2011) in our back yard (it has faint stripes on it's sides).  We also have two albino squirrels in our neighborhood

Our Back Yard—Waukesha, Wisconsin
This Chipmunk crawls inside this wire corncob holder, headfirst, to get at the kernels, and then turns around and crawls back up

Our Home—Waukesha, Wisconsin
A pair of Chipmunks took turns running across our yard to the bird and squirrel feeders. They filled their cheeks with seeds, and then ran back across the yard to some trees.  I stood quietly in their path and they kept up the routine, nearly running over my feet each way

Teton Pass—Jackson Hole, Wyoming
We were headed from Idaho to the Grand Teton National Park, via Teton Pass, when we stopped at the pass and hiked a bit.  I saw this animal and have not been able to identify it.  It was about the size of a squirrel, but the tail, which you can sort of see here, was not squirrel like. Any ideas?

Mariposa Grove—Yosemite National Park, California
Yosemite National Park's Mariposa Grove is filled with Giant Sequoia trees and little critters too. I hiked the main path in the grove one morning, climbing 1,000 vertical feet, and caught this little guy playing along the way
